“In my earlier twenties, I wasn’t good at being open and trusting and I think I still struggle with it a bit now. So my way of dealing with stuff is through writing … So much of it just ends up in a box in the corner of the room, and then some of it ends up songs, but the process of just writing stuff down and not being afraid of who’s going to hear it helps me understand what I’m thinking.”
