JOAN
When Joan was sentenced, it was on the grounds that she could keep her baby with her. But after her daughter was born, things changed.

“My daughter ended up staying in hospital for a month because they thought she had a heart murmur and would have to go for an operation. It was highly stressful and then the prison starts saying to me ‘Look, you’ve got to start weaning her off breast milk because you’ve got to go back to prison.’”
